Thank you

Oh my gosh, I can't believe all of the responses we have gotten on the bump post. Thank you to everyone who left encouraging messages, because I have been struggling with the idea that I still have 8 weeks to due date seems like it is FOREVER away. Since this is such a hot topic, I figured I would continue the trend. The following are my observations about being pregnant, both good and bad:

-Not only is my belly expanding, so are my arms, thighs, feets, hands, etc
-Thank goodness that I can still put on my wedding band, I wouldn't want anyone to think that my baby daddy up and left me
-I haven't been to the grocery store more than 5 times since being pregnant, Matt takes care of the shopping... thanks babe!
-People are constantly offering me their seat on the bus and train, normally they wouldn't even make eye contact
-I am so HOT all of the time, my body temp must have increased 5 fold
-I feel like the ligaments in my pelvis might snap like a broken rubberband at any given moment
-I cannot see any of the area between my belly button and my knees, unless I use magic consisting of contortion and smoke and mirrors
-I love it when she gets the hiccups, it is the coolest thing and I stop what I am doing to sit down and feel it for a few minutes
-My hair and nails have never grown like this or looked better, I am having a hard time keeping up with all of the grooming, clipping, haircuts, highlighting, waxing nessecary to keep me looking good/normal
-I can't wait to see her...I hope she is a good mix of us, looks and personality
-I thank God everyday for chocolate, sweets, candy, baked goods, confections and ice cream
-On a similar note, I have a free pass to eat as much as I want...but my appetite is much smaller than before I was preggo (excepts for the sweets, of course)
-I thought this was going to be different, in general I feel so's not the out of body experience that I thought it would be
-Matt has become the pregnancy police...he watches and comments on most moves I make (ie, "don't push on your stomach so hard, you might hurt her" or "are you sure it is okay if you take those tums?")

Alright, that's enough observations for now. I'll post another picture and more observations closer to Sept 22.

Bump Watch

Take a look at this bump! Laura is looking good! The baby girl is really moving and is constantly pushing against Laura's belly. We have fun at night watching Laura's belly when the baby moves all over the place.

It's a little early to start thinking about Christmas already, but we are... Matt and I went to a store in Northfield, Il to purchase a christmas stocking canvas for the baby. It is needlepoint and I think it will take me until Christmas 2008 to complete! Both of our moms made a stocking for us when we were babies, so this will be a fun tradition to pass along.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Lilly, who turned 2 on Saturday! She got a new toy, and had so much fun that she crashed on Sunday night.

The guys at work can't believe that I am cool enough to allow Matt to hang his deer "Buck" in the house. Not only do I allow Buck in the house, but I let Matt hang Buck above our mantle. How's that for cool? What I did not tell them is that Matt has another Buck, mounted hooves, and two sets of antlers which I have asked him to keep at his parents house in Peoria....guess I am not that cool afterall.

Lilly loves to play in the morning. She usually wakes up, goes outside, eats breakfast, and then plays while Matt and I try to catch a few more winks. Well, of course she can't play with just one toy...she has to play with a lot. Here's an example from this morning of all of the toys she brings onto the bed by the time we wake up. A frisbee, bobber, octopus, chickadee, hedgehog, rabbit, squirrel, and a rawhide chew...phew.

Lilly and I are bachelorettes this week, because Matt is out of town for work. We're having a lot of fun together, and she is doing a great job of keeping me company. We watched a Lifetime movie last night and ate some ice cream in bed...all of the things that Matt wouldn't approve of if he were around!

Getting ready for baby

It's time to get ready for the baby, we have waited long enough! We re-arranged the guest room last weekend to accommodate a crib and a changing table. It is a little squeezed for my taste in there, but it works. We also purchashed a few articles of newborn clothing to get us started, and Matt's dad brought over two huge boxes of wipes and two huge boxes of diapers from Sam's Club. (WOW, Thanks!) All of this preparation makes us even more excited to meet Baby G.

Good Book

I just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini for book club, and it was fantastic! I can't wait to get together with the group and discuss. We read the previous book by this author, The Kite Runner...well the rest of them did...I just couldn't get into it. Now that I have finished and liked this one so much, I have motivation to restart the other.

Baby Name

A few people have asked us recently if we have picked out a name for the baby yet, so I thought that I would update everyone. Nope, no name yet. But we will let you know when we have decided on one, promise. We just won't tell you what it is until she is born.

It's official

Lilly HATES the Fourth of's her least favorite holiday. The neighborhood fireworks sent her scrambling for cover, and she found refuge under our bathroom sink.

We had a great weekend in Peoria last weekend. It had been a while since we had been home, and I think Mike and Claudia were happy to see our faces around the house again. We ran a ton of errands, they are so much easier to do there rather than in the city. We accomplished a lot of "baby stuff" which was a ton of fun, because prior to this weekend, we hadn't started on any baby preparations. Matt was able to play a round of golf with Mike, we had a great Italian meal out at Rizzi's, and Claudia and Mike spoiled their new grand daughter-to-be with a few new cute. The best part of the weekend was pulling the changing table and cradle out of storage on Saturday night. Claudia bought these items at a flea market a year or so ago in hope that a grandchild might be able to use them one day. (no pressure, of course!) We dusted them off, and brought them home with us. They are beautiful pieces of furniture and I am so excited about them. THANK YOU!
