Anna has been rolling a lot in the past few days. She only knows how to go in one direction, so she ends up steam rolling across the entire family room. It's very funny. Here are a few pictures that Jessica captured of the action.

I saw a great piece on the Today Show this morning. It was about a website that allows you to 'opt out' of receiving catalogs. It is a great one stop shop, because who really has time to call each company and request to have your name removed from their list? All you have to do is enter your address and you are able to click on the catalogs that you no longer need/wish to receive. Visit Catalog Choice today!

Hello Everyone! Jessica has been teaching me how to hold the bottle by myself. I sorta get it, when Grandpa Jack was here over the weekend I did it for about 10 seconds before dropping the bottle. (and then I got pissed, because my food was gone) In other news, I still love my hands and fingers. I try to jam them in my mouth whenever I get the opportunity. Really, I try to jam everything in my mouth, it doesn't have to by my fingers. I have been practicing my talking too. Dad and I had a cooing conversation over the weekend, it was fun and lasted about 5 minutes. Mom wishes she captured it on camera, but silly Mommy didn't think about the camera until afterwards. I have been laughing and squealing a lot more lately. I think Mom and Dad like to laugh along with me because they seem to do it a lot. I have been practicing my rolling too. I can go back to front and front to back now. I try to do it when no one is around so when they come back to me I am in the other position....you know, just to mess with them. More updates from my crib to yours in a few weeks. (Don't worry, Mom said that she would post a lot between now and then) Love, Anna

We met up with Matt's family on Sunday for pizza and bowling in celebration of Mike's birthday. We had a wonderful day of family and fun. Upon our arrival we were presented with this wonderful homemade personalized growth chart for Anna. A great big thank you to Kim, Mason, Allie and Maggie for being so crafty and painting this outdoor themed masterpiece!

This post is for the ladies out there.... On the weekends I love taking leisurely showers, and I look forward to a few minutes to myself. I crank up the water temperature as hot as I can stand it and then I just let it heat me through. I shave my legs, I deep condition my hair....the works. It's a great break for me because I know Matt is here to take care of Anna's needs while I step away for a few minutes. Well, on Saturday I had just stepped into the shower after putting Anna down for a nap. I knew I had lots of time, when low and behold who walks in? Matt. You know what he wanted? He came in to show me the awesome sandwich he had just made himself for lunch....he's going on and on about the meat, cheese, lettuce and whatever else he put on it. What? He interrupted my shower for THAT? I told him to shut the door and make sure it didn't hit his behind too hard on the way out. All I ask for is a little peace.
Can you believe how much she has grown? The first picture is the day we came home from the hospital and the second is from today. Thank you Grammy B for a bigger hat. We had one just like it from before and I loved it so much. I just couldn't bear the thought of giving it up, so Grammy made a new one for Anna.

I was afraid to jinx myself so I haven't said anything yet, but Anna is doing great in the sleeping department! We have been putting her down around 8pm and she is not waking up until the 5-6am time frame. She has a quick snack and then back to sleep until 8am. We couldn't be happier (or more rested) with the results of our little 'cry it out' experiment. She is so happy in the morning when she wakes up from a great night of sleep (aren't we all?) Here are a few pictures from this morning.
PS. To all of our loyal readers out there: This blog was created to keep you informed of our family life, day to day happenings, and big milestones. We are always open to suggestions, because we are new to this thing called parenthood. We hope that you would refrain from posting criticisms of our parenting style.

The past few nights we have been bathing Anna around 7pm and then I have been giving her a small bottle to "top off the tank" before bedtime. We have always given her a bath at nighttime, and she totally loves it...it is so relaxing for all of us. Last night she fell asleep while finishing her bottle. My sweet baby.

Thank you Matt and Alison for this fun Christmas gift! This activity includes an elf and a storybook about the elf. He is santa's helper and he stays at our house everyday from Thanksgiving until Christmas. Anna must name him as soon as she can. He listens to Anna's Christmas wishes and also reports to Santa whether she has been naughty or nice! Each night when Anna sleeps, he goes to the north pole and reports to Santa and then returns to our house by morning. Anna will have to find his new resting place each day. If she touches him, he loses his magical powers and he can't tell Santa her wishes. He knows it is time to go back to Santa each year when he hears the sleigh bells ringing on Christmas Eve. This is going to be so much FUN! What a fantastic gift, thank you!

Anna and I worked on taco dinner together tonight. The bumbo seat has been great for when we get home in the evening. Matt and I have both of our hands free to get things accomplished, yet she is still right in on the action..and right there with us. I think she loves the new 'view' and she seems to be very happy hanging out with us.
She did better last night, but she is still waking every few hours. Instead of screaming/crying when she woke up, she did a lot of "loud talking with an emphasis on angry." That's the best way I can explain it. I know that she woke around 12am and at 445am, but I am not sure about the rest of the night. I have gotten really good at tuning her out as I slip in and out of consciousness....I mean sleep. Plus, we have been closing her door and our door to help buffer the sound. (normally we leave the doors open at night) Anyways, that's the update, we'll keep you posted on when she actually sleeps through the night. I think we are on our way...

Anna's sleep patterns have gotten horrible over the past few weeks. It is completely our fault too, as we have been a little selfish in the sleep department. She has been waking in the middle of the night, and we have been running right into her room and popping the pacifier into her mouth because it puts her right back to sleep. Well, now she is waking at regular intervals throughout the night: 12, 2, 4, and 6am! It is a habit that we have to break because this is worse than having a newborn baby! We started our new regime yesterday with her naps and then continued on through the nighttime. We are allowing her to cry for 20 minutes before taking action. (which seems like a never ending amount of time when it is the middle of the night and you are just laying there listening to your child scream) She did great for her naps...the first nap yesterday she cried for about 17 minutes before settling into sleep and by this morning's first nap it was less than 5 min of crying before sleep. Last night was a little different however. She cried for the full 20 minutes at 12, 2, and 4am. I hope tonight is a little bit better than last night, and I hope tomorrow night is a little bit better than tonight. I heard that this takes three-five nights. I am praying for a sleeping beauty by the end of January!
