We ventured out today and ran a few errands. Man, I wish the weather would get would make our trips out of the house so much nicer! We hit Menards, Trader Joe's and Costco. Matt and I have often heard friends and family talk about the concession food at Costco and we often see people just like us eating there, but we have never tried it. I just think about the nasty food at like... a Kmart (sorry Kmart) or some other store like that. So, we were starving as we checked out, and we decided to take the plunge. My oh my, have we been missing out. My hot dog and coke cost $1.50 and Matt's pizza and coke was $2.50! What a bargain, plus is was delicious. We will most certainly being 'dining in' again!

Palm Springs

Well, we had a wonderful vacation visiting with my grandma out in the desert. Man, is that place beautiful! We were able to do a whole bunch of things: swimming, stroller rides, hanging with cousin Lauren, visited grandpa, we ate a lot of yummy food....did I mention swimming?

6 months

My baby is 6 months old today! Wow, time flies by...

Home Again

Phew, it was a long day of travel yesterday but we made it home in one piece. Anna did great on the plane, sleeping during both segments of our trip. When we walked in the door around 1am last night, she was all smiles. Can she possibly know that we are 'home'? I think so! We showed her her room and she grinned from ear to ear. Here she is playing with toys left at home while Matt and I did a bit of unpacking. We were waiting for the house to heat up so that we could give her a bath and get her into bed...thus the hat and sweatshirt. More on our trip as the week goes on!

Mom got her weekly email from the hospital this morning about my upcoming developments. It said that cheerios would be in our future. I just didn't realize that it would happen today. (how convenient that she happened to be eating her cheerios breakfast while checking her email!) Anyways, she let me try one...and this is what happened:
not so sure
yuck, get this thing out of my mouth
happy again
back to playing

Remember that trip to California that she keeps mentioning? Well we finally get to go there today, so it may be awhile until we post again. Peace out, Anna

California or Bust

We are preparing for our trip to California next week...and that includes short sleeves and shades for Anna. I realized today that I don't have a lot of summer clothes for her, so I had a fun day at Old Navy picking up some new summer tanks and shorts. Oh gosh, I can hardly wait for the warm weather. Watch out CA, here we come!

Dear Jessica, Thanks for letting me pick my own toys out of the bin! Love, Anna

We spent this weekend at home, which was really nice. We were able to get a few things accomplished on the never-ending 'list' know you all have them too! We found new light fixtures for the kitchen and installed them with my Dad. We shopped for tile for a back splash in the kitchen. We cleaned out our master bedroom closet....these are all tasks that are not particularly fun and I feel so much better now that they are crossed off the list. Phew. This weekend wasn't all work though. We ventured out for a nice fish dinner on Friday night and then to a birthday party on Saturday night. Thanks for watching Anna on Saturday Mom! We felt so strange leaving the house without a baby in tow, but it was a refreshing night away. Now I am looking ahead to our much anticipated trip to California next week. Of course that means a whole new set of lists and things to think about. I am kind of nervous that I am going to forget to pack something for Anna or ourselves. I suppose that we can buy any forgotten things that we really need once we get there. Regardless, traveling with a baby takes a lot of thought! Here is a picture of Anna and I hanging out last week. And another of her sitting n' smiling. (PS. if you click on the second picture you can see her new tooth!)

Before and After

Lilly got a much needed haircut this past week. I still think she is SO cute when she is fluffy.

Look Familiar?

It will to all of the GphiB's out there! I am fairly certain that this is a recipe for one of the house's best desserts, Jello Cake! I found it on Kraft Foods' website while poking around on Shannon's recommendation. Thanks for the tips Shannon, we can always use a new idea or two for meals at our house. (I signed up for the freebie magazine too)

Between my motivation and her determination...she might be scooting soon.

Mr and Mrs Gibson #2

Congratulations to Matt's younger brother Chris and his new wife Abby! They were married yesterday under a gazebo in the French Quarter of New Orleans. We are so excited for them, and wish them a lifetime of happiness! Congrats you guys!

Jump Around

Anna received this rain forest jumper from Grandma and Grandpa Bima for Christmas this year. We left it in Peoria for a few months, because she just wasn't quite ready for it yet. We brought it back to Chicago with us today, and I put it together in just few minutes this evening. Anna tried it out for the first time soon after the assembly was complete. Well, she LOVES it. It took her a few minutes to catch on to the jumpiness of it...but once she realized what she could do...she was jumping non stop. And she was laughing and squealing and having a grand old time. This is going to a wonderful toy for her to enjoy in the upcoming months. Plus, Matt and I really enjoyed watching her play in it...we were laughing along with her. I can't wait until tomorrow, when she can play again. Thank you!

Mars vs Venus

We brought home Gondola sandwiches from a place in Peoria called Avanti's. Oh my, these are totally the best sub-type sandwiches that I have ever had. I think it's the bread. Matt was plating our leftovers for dinner tonight, and he asked me if I wanted the cheese on my sandwich... he always takes the cheese off of his sandwich. I told him that I would like "half of the cheese" And his man brain morphed that into "cheese on half" We had a great big laugh about it. A prime example of the difference in a man's versus a woman's thinking!
