I know I already posted about her bath in the sink...but I couldn't resist to post it again after my dad sent a picture of me doing the same thing! WOW.

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. I got my haircut on Saturday while Matt played golf and Anna hung out with my mom. Then we all joined up for a yummy dinner at Chili's (we don't have Chili's in the city, so it is a big treat when we go to the burbs.) Then we headed off to my dad's house to stay the night and help him celebrate his birthday on Sunday. We did a little bit of shopping and a lot of hanging out at his house. Above is a picture of Anna taking her evening bath in my Dad's kitchen sink.
Jessica is off this week so Matt and I are splitting time at home with Anna. So fun, it's like being a stay at home mom! I took her to the Dr this morning for her 6 month checkup. She weighs 17 lbs 6 oz (50%) and is 28 inches long(90%). Looks like we might have a string bean on our hands. She screamed her lungs out while she received 4 shots, but did great during the remainder of the visit. We go back in three months for another checkup.

Jessica's mom is visiting from South Africa for the entire month of April. I am sure it is a treat for Jessica to see her since it has been over two years since they last saw each other! Can you imagine? Jessica's sister is an Au pair and is just finishing her program in Chicago and is getting ready to go back home at the end of this month. The three of them have been very busy taking in the sights around Chicago, and they have been taking Anna with them! So far they have been to the Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, Navy Pier, and today they are headed to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. I am so jealous that I can't enjoy the sights with them everyday. Jessica's mom also brought a gift bag of items for Anna from South Africa...including this adorable outfit!

Oh man, did we get hit hard! It all started with Anna getting sick somewhere in the late evening on Wednesday night. I checked her as I always do before going to bed, and I discovered that she had gotten sick in her crib. Yuck. So I picked her up to change her sheets and PJ's, and she got sick again...this time all over me. I came down with the bug on Thursday night around midnight. It is a nasty one, let me tell you! We decided to spare Jessica, and we gave her the day off on Friday. My dad came to our house in her place because I couldn't get out of bed all day, thank goodness for his help. Then Matt was hit hard on Friday night. (wowzers...it went like wildfire through our house) He spent Saturday recovering in bed while I watched Anna. The phone rang on Saturday night, it was my dad....he got the bug that night! Can you believe this dang little super bug? I think that we can officially call ourselves a family now that we have had the flu circle through the house. Needless to say we spent today cleaning, sanitizing and resting. Phew. Goodbye FLU, see you never!

Okay, I'm totally sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have been a little under the weather this week, and I am just trying to keep this ship upright. Phew. Anna has been a TON of fun lately. She is so happy all of the time. Happy playing, happy eating, happy sleeping, happy happy happy. She is completely enjoyable in every way. Recently she started to wave. It is so funny, because she waves backwards with her 'grip' opening up towards her instead of away from her. She has been practicing at all opportunities, even when I am leaving for work in the morning and that is bad because it makes me want to stay at home instead of go! Here are a few pictures from this weekend. One waving at Lilly and the other looking 'sideways'...her new view of the world. She has been doing this a lot. Just cocks her head sideways and smiles....very cute. (in my opinion)

The major development in our life is that Anna has been sleeping through the night on a consistent basis. Yes! We hit a bump in the road when we traveled to California, she was pretty close to sleeping through the night before we left... And it's always hard to get great sleep when you are away from home, isn't it? Once we got home she started flipping over onto her tummy while sleeping. It made us a little nervous at first, but I think that she is old enough to control her head and neck now. Plus, I know this is a super comfortable position to sleep in, because I sleep that way myself. We are in the process of losing the swaddling blanket; we have been swaddling her with her arms out for the past week or so and it is working great. I think the key though is that she has figured out how to put the pacifier in her mouth by herself. I have to thank Shannon for the brilliant suggestion of putting several pacifiers into the crib with her at night. If she loses hers, she finds another one right away. It's pretty funny when she wakes up with a different one in her mouth!

A huge congratulations to the Kansas Jayhawks who won the National Championship last night! It was a very exciting game to watch and a much deserved win. Although I did not attend KU, the Jayhawk blood runs thick through my veins. Several family members and close friends went to school there...and did you know that if I did not go to IU, I was accepted to go to KU? (the only other school that I applied to) Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

We had a great start to the weekend today. First of all, it was beautiful outside...it finally feels like spring. I am SO over winter, and it's time to move onto the next season please. We opened our windows and enjoyed the fresh air all day long.
We asked our good friend Steve Goldhaber, who is a wedding photographer, if he would mind capturing some images of Anna at 6 months. I know children are not his normal subject, so I really appreciate his willingness to come over and photograph her. He posted a few images on his blog today..please go check it out. I can't wait to see what else he got, because the samples he posted are awesome. Thank you Steve! And thanks to Matt and my dad for making every face and noise imaginable at Anna to make her smile and laugh for the photo shoot. You looked like complete fools and I totally enjoyed it :)
My dad and Matt also hung a new light fixture over our kitchen table this morning. We haven't had a working fixture for about a year, and it is so nice to finally have light! We went green, and bought those new low wattage bulbs for the fixture. The bulbs look a little funny all coiled up but they work great. They almost work too good, I think we are going to have to buy some lower wattage bulbs because it seems like we have a spotlight on us while we are trying to eat!
We finished up our day with a late lunch/early dinner at J Alexanders (yum) and then walked around the surrounding shops afterwards to work off a little bit of our meal and enjoy the weather. We also went for another walk once we got home so that Lilly could enjoy the fresh air too. A wonderful spring day in Chicago!

I got home from work yesterday and sifted through the mail, because I love seeing what we receive each day. It's usually nothing special, just a few bills, some junk mail and maybe a catalogue or two. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I found a piece of junk mail addressed to my Anna Banana! It is a credit card application, and I don't think that my 6 month old kid needs to receive anything like this in her name ever again. I know the source too. I opened a savings account for her at our bank. It means that our bank has sold her name to some mailing list and now I am really peeved off. The bank? They should be the first people who try and prevent identity theft...they are practically promoting it! You bet your behind that I am marching myself right over there this afternoon... Just be glad you are not the one sitting behind the desk!
