Quick Update

A quick update, since we haven't blogged in a while....more to come in the upcoming days. We road tripped it to Omaha, NE this past weekend. A great trip with lots of family time and Anna did awesome in the car. Plus who knew Iowa has spectacular green rolling hills? Alison and Matt Hunt welcomed Ethan John Hunt on June 28. We had a super duper visit with them last night and we were able to meet Mr. Ethan. He is gorgeous and Ethan can be Anna's BF whenever he is ready! (well , maybe he'll want to thicken up a bit...cause Anna is pretty thick these days!) Our upstairs neighbors, Amy and Patrick, are currently at the hospital... her water broke during a dinner party they were hosting last night! Can you imagine? It will be a great story down the road! No baby yet, but he/she should arrive today. I'll keep you posted. And last but not least...Happy Birthday to my mom today!

Waiting and Praying

We are currently awaiting two new arrivals, and two new friends for Anna! Our upstairs neighbors, (they are so much more than that) Patrick and Amy were expecting Baby Forebaugh to arrive yesterday. But it seems like that kiddo is camped out and happy with his/her current living conditions. Amy continues to prove that pregnancy is a piece of cake for her and motors on...and on and on. We can't wait to meet you Baby Forebaugh! We are also waiting for Baby Hunt to make his/her debut. Unlike Baby Forebaugh, Baby Hunt has decided that it is time to bust out of that tight living space. Alison had taken up residence at NM Hospital for the remainder of her pregnancy, since she experienced some symptoms of early labor late Sunday night. We are hoping and praying that Baby Hunt stays put for a little while longer so that he/she has a chance to grow and strengthen. You can keep up to date with the Hunt's hospital happenings via their blog, which they are diligently updating. We can't wait to meet you Baby Hunt!

Pulling Up

So now that Anna knows how to crawl around super fast, she decided that she needed to step it up and make things a little bit more interesting for Matt and I. She is pulling up on anything and everything, as you can see in the pictures posted above. She is getting pretty good at it, and even knows how to do this in her crib. (It's lots of fun when she is supposed to be sleeping...and she doesn't know how to get back down on her own yet) So, I guess the next new skill should be how to sit down. I just went out and got her an 'activity table' which looks like it will be a lot of fun. She will be able to stand up and play to her heart's desire!

Bathtime Fun

Bathtime fun happens every night at our house. This girl loves being in the water!

Shout Out

Shout out to my pals, Leslie and Jill. Thanks for inviting me to the party last weekend, Love Anna

Father's Day

Let me start this blog by saying how PROUD I am to be a father. I really don't think there is anything better. It is absolutely amazing to be a Dad and I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful little girl. The first 9 months of her life have been great and I am looking forward to many more wonderful years ahead.

With it being father's day and all...I started thinking about what it means to be a parent. I started thinking about what my parents mean to me.....and now that I am a parent, I feel I have a better understanding of parenthood.

So I want to say thanks to both my Mom and Dad. Thanks for being wonderful parents and thanks for all you have done for me. Both of you have made me the person I am today and I thank you!

Above is a picture taken of Anna and I at her bed time. She went to bed a little late tonight but she did not seem to mind.

Messy

I am sure that she will get messier in the future, and this can't be the messiest kid of all time... but for Anna, this was messy. And she Loved it!

The Great Canadian Outdoors

Last weekend my Dad, Nick and I went on our annual fishing trip to Canada. Now I don't want to sound like I am complaining but we had quite the adventure when it came to travel. I will try to summarize below:

We were originally scheduled to leave Friday evening. We arrived at Midway airport to learn that our flight had been canceled. Northwest airlines booked us on the first flight out of Midway the next morning.....6:30 am.

We show up at Midway on Saturday morning to learn that our flight had again been canceled. The airline informed us that we are booked on a 6:50 am flight out of O'Hare. We hopped a cab and headed to O'Hare.

We took off and landed in Minneapolis by 10:30 am.

The next leg of the trip was to travel to International Falls. The plane was loaded...the engines were roaring and then the pilot slammed on the brakes. We were informed that the plane was having mechanical problems.

We finally secured a plane and landed in I-Falls.

At that point, we needed to cross the boarder for our drive to the fishing camp. Lets just say it took 2 hours to cross the boarder. Oh well! We finally arrived at camp for dinner around 5.

We awoke on Sunday and had a great day of fishing. We caught many walleyes and small mouth bass. It was awesome!!!!

We fished a half day on Monday and then headed back to the airport.

We arrived in Minneapolis on time...our flight was then loaded for our trip back to Chicago.

The crew closed the doors and we pushed back from the gate...only to head back to the gate because the co-pilot was feeling sick.

About two hours later we secured a new pilot but the crew then ran out of crew hours...so they canceled our flight back to Midway.

Northwest airlines re booked us on another flight back to O'Hare and we finally landed about 11:30 pm.

So we had three canceled flights, mechanical problems, a sick co-pilot and a crew that ran out of crew hours.....needless to say, our travel was interesting.

Other than the travel portion, we had a wonderful trip to Canada. We really missed Chris and hope he can make the trip next year.

Here are some pictures from our trip. I will post more pictures on a later post.

New Desk & Happenings

I recently moved office locations here in Chicago, check out the view from my new desk! Not too bad. We are on the 4th floor now, I have to say that the 34th floor at the old building was pretty cool. At least my elevator ride is cut short...think of all the time saved.
Matt was out of town this past weekend (he'll post about that trip...and what a trip it was) so Anna and I packed up and headed out to Crystal Lake. I had visions of swimming, walks, and enjoying the summer weather in general. Mother Nature has visions of sweltering heat and lots of rain. Let's just say that she won. We sweated it out at Dad's house on Friday night and Saturday during the day (his AC was broken), but we had to escape to my Mom's house late Saturday evening. Poor Anna, I put the girl to bed wearing only her diaper and she just couldn't get comfortable. She erupted in tears around 11pm and would not settle back down. So we packed up and left (sorry dad) By the end of the weekend, we were all exhausted. I was happy to be home on Sunday night and thrilled that Matt would be returning Monday night. He is such a super dad. I really miss all his efforts when he is gone!

Summer Ware

Thanks to cousin Lauren for this super cute summer outfit. It is 80 degrees with about 99% humidity today, so it is perfect....although Anna isn't sure how to wear this top! Don't worry Anna...you will have many lessons in fashion my daughter, many lessons.
