Gosh, wishing that we were back there right now...

So, big news around here is that Anna has been taking some steps on her own. I don't know if I would call it full-on walking, but she is definitely going in that direction! Before she got sick last week, she was taking up to 20 steps between my dad and I as we sat on the floor facing each other. Once the roseola set in, she wasn't interested in any sort of walking...understandable. She is finally back to herself today, so Jessica and I sat down this morning and encouraged her to walk between us. She did it and she had a blast. She even let go of the coffee table and walked over to the chair by our front window. And she did that without being coaxed the whole way....so moral of the story, we are on our way to having a walking kid. Can you say scary? Speaking of scary... I took Anna to a kiddie shoe store on Monday to have her feet measured and take a peak at the shoes. Did you know that kiddie shoes cost a lot of money???? Maybe I was in the wrong store, but most of the shoes in that place cost upwards of $50! WOW. I don't even like to spend that much on my own shoes. I decided to pass on real shoes for now, and got some slipper-type shoes instead. She isn't walking yet and it is not cold outside now so we don't need the real things for warmth. Good golly, forget about saving for college, baby needs a new pair of shoes!

We're back from Michigan! We had a great trip (more on that later..I have a lot to say so there could be a lot of posts in the next few days!) A few days after we arrived, Anna came down with a pretty significant fever. I am not sure how high her temperature actually got because I forgot to bring a thermometer with us, but she was smoking hot for 3 days. (I'm a bad mom, I got yelled at by the pediatrician for the no thermometer thing when I placed a call to them on Saturday...oh well) When the fever finally broke, she started getting a non-itchy rash all over her trunk, neck and face. Luckily, I had heard about roseola before because my niece Lauren had it this spring...so as soon as the rash broke out, I knew. She is on the mend now, just taking long naps and wanting to snuggle a lot. (a huge treat for me because she is usually WAY to busy to snuggle!) Roseola is a super contagious respiratory virus. Typically, it only spreads to kids between the ages of 6 months and 5 years. Most kids will contract it at some point. It is similar to chicken pox where you get it once and you are done. Hooray!

The company that I work for has a fine history of blocking websites that us worker-bees can access. I have had hotmail and gmail taken away from me, followed by Perez Hilton, and now they have blocked BLOGGER!!! Can you imagine that? I was shocked this morning when I was denied access to my own blog. (well, really not that shocked, after all it is a very good way to waste time while at work) So anywho...I am a home blogger now, and I can't check all of my friend's blogs until I get home either. Bummer.
We are gearing up for a week's vacation in Michigan, which I am super excited about. We were not able to go last summer because I was super duper preggo, so this will be our first trip in two years. Wow, it is really a shame that we have not been able to get up there, since we both love it so much. I am thrilled to introduce Anna to Michigan, and the place that I loved going to when I was a kid. My dad will join us for the first portion of the week, and Mike, Claudia, and my mom will join us for the second part of our stay. I'm looking forward to it...did I say that already?
Not much else is new here. Anna is doing great... getting more teeth, walking behind her truck and also with us (we hold at least one hand) She can say 'hi' 'dad' 'lilly' 'tata' (jessica) and the very occasional 'mom'.
I've started thinking about some fall clothes for A.B...wow, NONE of her stuff from the spring fits anymore, so I guess that means a whole new warm weather wardrobe. Lucky girl! I found the above puffy vest on sale on the Landsend website. It is so cute.

Hooray! Ethan Hunt was finally able to go home today and we are thrilled. Alison and Matt have been patiently waiting his arrival home for quite a few weeks. They have stayed so strong and now they are finally being rewarded and blessed with his homecoming. Congratulations Hunt family, we love you and we are so happy for you!
