Since we moved into the house one month ago: we have only had one working toilet, one working sink, and one working shower...and they are not in the same bathrooms...even though the house has 2 1/2 baths! We are SO SO excited that the bathroom projects are coming to an end this week and we have 3 functioning bathrooms. We completely gutted the main bath in the hallway by the bedrooms (more on that later), the full bath in the basement got a new toilet and a new sink, and the previously ALL YELLOW half bath by the kitchen got a new toilet and a new sink too. Hooray! Still to do in the half bath: remove the plaid wallpaper, paint it a neutral color to calm down the remaining yellow (cause it is staying for now) and find some fun bath accessories. Before and afters above of the half bath. I'll post a final 'after' shot once the wallpaper comes down and we paint - but for now, enjoy.
Jack and Nick (Matt's dad and brother) were able to come up from Peoria and visit over this past weekend. They hadn't been here since the day we moved into the house, so they were excited to see all of the updates. Of course we put them to work removing bushes in the front of the house, but we also had some really nice relaxing time too!

When we visited Denver in May for my cousin's wedding, Lauren introduced Anna to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the Disney channel - and it's pretty much an everyday watch for us now. I ran across the fact that there is a Playhouse Disney Live show that is coming to the Chicago area this fall, and I think it will be the perfect opportunity to take Anna to her first show. Shhh - don't tell her we are going, it's a surprise for her birthday at the end of September!

A few more pictures from the house. This time we are in the kitchen. We painted the paneling and the trim around the doors and windows. I think it makes everything look 'crisp' and updated in general. We also painted the inside of the built in china cabinet. There is SO much wood in the kitchen already, so by painting the inside of the cabinet we toned down that wood-y feeling. PS. Check out the new light fixture above the kitchen table...my dad scored big time when he found it at Lowes for just $7! We spray painted the chain and hardware a great color called rubbed bronze. We intend in update the knobs on all of the kitchen cabinets to match the rubbed bronze look too.

Before and afters! We still have a a little bit to finish, but I feel like we can live in the family room now. Our wish list includes carpeting (the floor is currently wood laminate) and a TV stand/shelving for books, toys, DVD's, picture books, etc. We hope to have the carpeting in by the time baby G #2 is here, and the shelves by ??? .... well, it may have to wait until next spring because there are other house projects I would like to tackle first.
